The Power Between the Lines

Poetry has always been a powerful tool for reformists—a way to connect with people and convey bold, transformative ideas. More than the words themselves, it is the meaning hidden between the lines that gives poetry its magic. That space—subtle, emotional, and often unspoken—can stir hearts, challenge authority, and inspire change.

When someone seeks to control art, the first thing they attempt is to dominate that space between the lines. This act is not only unethical—it is cowardly. But in today’s world, where shame is in short supply, such manipulation has become all too common, carried out under the guise of legitimacy.

By controlling the meaning inferred between the lines, they twist the context of the words—forcing them to say what they were never meant to say. This is manipulation of the highest order. It corrupts the original message and distorts the truth at its very core.

And when they cannot control a poet—when the meaning cannot be manipulated—they turn their efforts toward discrediting the poet instead. They attempt to stain the character of those whose voices remain unbent.

Rather than suffocating the space between the lines, it is the deep-rooted systems of corruption that must be pruned. It is not the message that must be silenced, but the decay that resists the truth in those messages.

Be like a reading glass

There was a small social experiment wherein a message was made to travel amongst a small group of people. That is a message was conveyed from a source through a finite number of mediators before it reaches to the destination. The outcome was astonishing that source message was completely altered by mediators in between before it reached the destination.

 The latest level of distortion was to clip the information into pieces and pick that cropped clip which conveys completely different meaning to be precise a opposite meaning when compared to original block of information. This unethical cropped information in made to cater to popularization of the propaganda.

It is difficult to reign in on these manipulations through any law as they are logically correct but ethically debatable and there is no rule that can punish unethical practices especially when these manipulations are incentivized by those people decorating highest offices in any organization.

 

Worst thing is to give wings to these manipulations by the general state actors knowing the harmfulness of such synthetic modifications. And this practice has a universal backing and also a part of the strategic decision making by the authoritarians. Only thing those who are against such practices can do is to withdraw from the loop that encourages the manipulations.
